I love video games. To me it does not matter what system they are on so long as they are good and fun to play. But this is also the reason why I believe Nintendo to be the best company.
The console wars are escalating. Sega and Atari were the first casualties of this war. And as the battle rages, the console industries are trying new things to stay ahead of the game. No pun intended. New graphics and pricier consoles are all the rage.
But what happens when the fires of passion are extinguished? When the fad of having the newest, latest, greatest thing no longer is enough to satisfy the gamer? What we are left with are expensive and often over hyped games.
Nintendo has chosen wisely in my opinion to opt out of the HD revolution. At least for now. They focus on quality and fun gaming. Because that is what gaming is supposed to be. Fun.
Yes, this war is escalating. And I fear the industry may not survive it.
For this reason, I have created a web comic called, The Guild Of Meh. It is updated frequently so be sure to check out the page regularly. It chronicles the lives of militant gamers who are fighting both for their beloved factions, but also to oust those who seek to destroy the gaming industry, whether they be from the outside or the inside.
